Sundarijal Short Hike: A Short and Sweet Trip

Sundarijal, named after the Hindu goddess Sundarimai, is located fifteen kilometers north of Kathmandu. It is famous for Canyoning and Canyoneering, and many hikers heading to Chisapani use it as a starting point. The massive waterfalls, flowing streams, endless ridges, valleys, snowy ranges, and green summits draw the visitors.

Sundarijal is in the heart of an ancient forest that is part of the Shivapuri National Park and is rich in vegetation such as pine, oak, and rhododendron, as well as animals such as Himalayan black bear, leopard, jungle cat, and rhesus monkey.

The short hike to Sundarijal brings us north of Kathmandu Valley and provides excellent quick hiking options. We travel for an hour from Thamel to Sundarijal, passing through picturesque villages and communities. We will ascend into Shivapuri National Park over stone stairs, waterfalls, and rivers.
