Our hike begins from Godawari, a municipality in the Lalitpur district famous for its botanical garden. Godawari is also one of the popular hiking places near Kathmandu. Moving from Godawari, we continue our journey to Phulchowi, the highest peak in Kathmandu Valley.
Phulchowki is 20 km away and situated in the southeast part of Kathmandu. It is the best viewpoint for bird watching and Himalayan ranges. Phulchowki is also a great place to hike near Kathmandu. Also, you will come across a Buddhist Shrine and a forest filled with alluring flowers and birds.
Phulchowki is convenient and an excellent destination for families. There are several historical sites and traditional art, architecture, and other things. It gives you a glimpse into the rich culture and traditions of the various groups coexisting with a panoramic view of the mountains.

Godawari Phulchowki Hike Near Kathmandu
The hike begins with a short drive to Godawari, a municipality in the Lalitpur district. Godawari is best known for its botanical garden, which houses floras of various species for educational and research purposes. Also, it is an excellent place for a picnic on the weekend with your family and friends.
After reaching Godawari, we start walking to the Phulchowki hill. It takes almost four hours to reach the top. We will hike around the dense Rhododendron forests on the way to the top. The woods are the home to different kinds of birds and butterflies. Phulchowki is one of the top destinations for ornithologists because of the various bird species and a vantage viewpoint for bird watching. Some birds found there are: Yellow-browed Tit, Chestnut-headed Tesia, Rufous-gorgeted, Rufous-bellied Niltava, Red-billed Leiothrix, Racket-tailed Drongons and Bronzed, Whiskered Yuhina, Grey-headed Woodpecker, Nepal Cutia, Black-winged Cuckoo-shrike, Ultramarine Flycatcher, and many more.
Later, we can hike down towards the picnic point or nearby resorts for a filling lunch.
The Godawari Phulchowki short hike is reasonably easy for first-timers because the route and elevation are subtle.
Except for monsoon season, you can hike anytime in the Godawari Phulchowki region.
