Dhaulagiri Expedition

  • 44 Days

  • Dhaulagiri Region

Mount Dhaulagiri is the world's seventh tallest peak. It is a massive Himalayan range in north-central Nepal. It is the tallest peak in Nepal that is totally within the country. The summit of Dhaulagiri spans nearly thirty kilometers, providing shape to an otherwise convoluted landscape of twisting ridges, glaciers, and ice falls. Several pyramid-shaped summits rise along the main crest. Four of these peaks, listed east to west, exceed 25,000 feet in elevation. Our team is attempting to climb Dhaulagiri I, the highest of these four summits.

Program ( 44 Days )

A Creative Adventure Representative will pick you up from the airport and help you check in at the hotel. We are so excited to go on an expedition to Dhaulagiri with you. You can rest or roam around the streets of Kathmandu.

Before every expedition, we help our guests prepare for the trek by reviewing the guidelines and certain rules to follow. Also, we will go to the Ministry of Tourism for a briefing regarding the Dhaulagiri expedition. You can also use this day to buy some goods or some essentials you want to carry on your journey.

Early in the morning, we take a bus to Beni and eat our breakfast and lunch on the road. The awe-inspiring landscapes of Nepal are something to look out for. Beni is located at an elevation of 899 meters at the crossing of the Kali Gandaki and Myagdi rivers. It is the northernmost of Nepal's Tri-cities region, located 12 kilometers north of Zonal headquarters Baglung. Later on, we head to Galeshor and set up our camp.

From Galeshor, we begin our journey towards Tato Pani. The Tatopani hot spring is an exciting hiking excursion that ends with a natural hot water spring in Nepal's Annapurna area. It is an adventure into nature and a wonderful natural wonder. Later, we dip in the hot springs after a few hours of hike. We end the day with a delicious local meal.

Beginning our day with breakfast, we make our way toward Ghasa. Ghasa is a transitional village in Lete, Mustang. One interesting fact about Ghasa is that it is one of the rare spots where you may see all six Himalayan pheasants. The Himalayan pheasants are Nepal's response to the birds of paradise, which also include Nepal's national bird, the Himalayan pheasant.

Larjung is a village situated in the Mustang district. The Dhaulagiri and its icefall are visible from Larjung, and it is quite a spectacle. On the Dhaulagiri icefall, you can even hear pieces of ice crashing down. Moving on, we make our way through Larjung to Marpha, ending our day in a camp.

Marpha is a charming stone-lined village that has managed to endure the passage of time by catering to trekkers and visitors. The hamlet is a popular overnight stop along the Annapurna Circuit, and it is less congested and touristic than Jomsom to the north. Marpha brandy and preserves made from local apples make the town the apple capital of the country. Furthermore, we continue our journey from Marpha to Yak Kharka.

Yak Kharka is a village that has a huge alpine pasture used for grazing yaks. After filling our tummy with some delicious meal, we make our way to Dhaulagiri Base Camp. Dhaulagiri Base Camp is a difficult trek that takes you around Mt. Dhaulagiri. You will also get the opportunity to walk on snow and glaciers, particularly at Italian Base Camp and Dhaulagiri North Base Camp.

Despite the fact that there are several ways up it, Dhaulagiri is a challenging peak and a complex climb that requires a high degree of expertise regardless of the route. The North-East Ridge is the normal route for climbing Dhaulagiri, and it is ascended with three camps above basecamp.

The ascending path is generally of a moderate incline, with no particularly difficult hills.

The climbing period for Dhaulagiri is about 26 days. We begin our Dhaulagiri expedition from the Dhaulagiri Base Camp, which is located at 4740m. In order for your body to get used to the climate and the altitude, we rest and acclimatize our body on Day 11.

From there on, we make our way towards camp one, located at 5850m. We camp and prepare to acclimatize our bodies. Moving steadily, we will summit towards Camp two at an elevation of 6400m. Furthermore, acclimatizing our body for a day, we move on towards Camo three, located at 7400m. Lastly, we steady our move towards the Dhaulagiri Summit at 8167m.

After a successful Dhaulagiri expedition, we make our way back from the main peak towards Camp one via Camp three. Our expert guide will help you to make your journey as easy as possible.

After successfully descending to Dhaulagiri Base Camp, we trek down to Yak Kharka. Now, once we reach Yak Kharka, we will set up camp and celebrate the successful summit og Dhaulagiri.

Starting our day with a heartwarming breakfast, we continue our descent towards Jomsom. Jomsom is one of the main hubs of the Mustang district and Annapurna and Dhaulagiri region. Jomsom is located on both sides of the Kali Gandaki River. The Kali Gandaki Gorge is the world's deepest gorge. Jomsom has grown into a charming small mountain town. With the snow-laden Himalayas and the azure blue sky as a background, you may discover comfortable boutiques and colorful blocks of residential dwellings.

Ending our trek days, we will travel from Jomsom to Pokhara via road. There are various modes of transportation to reach Pokhara. Jeeps, buses as well as a flight to Pokhara are some of the common ones. Once we reach Pokhara, you can relax by the scenic lake and reminisce on the victorious moment of your expedition.

After our breakfast, we can either catch a flight back to Kathmandu or travel back via bus.

The end of your tour is almost here. You can stroll around Kathmandu and visit some of the UNESCO world heritage sites. If you want to learn more about the history of Nepal, then our knowledgeable guides can help you out.

The day to return back to your home has finally arrived. Our Creative Adventure Nepal representative will drop you off at the airport.
