Langtang Helambu Panchpokhari Trek

This trek enables you to explore through the Langtang National Park home of the Tibetan looking people the Tamangs. We begin our journey by drive towards the North West of Kathmandu to a mountain village of Dhunche a major village of Langtang area. The trek commences from here to the farmland, villages and forest of Rhododendron, conifer, bamboo’s, oaks and pines. In the spring forest looks enchanting with flowers all around. After passing these fascinating scenery we follow the narrow gorge of Langtang River till we ascend to the large alpine grass land of Kyangin Gompa where the glacier meets the meadow. You can see Yaks grazing around with the backdrops of snowy peaks of Langtang Ri, Langtang Lirung, Dorjee Lakpa and many other unnamed mountains around you.

Panch Pokhari Trek is the  journey to the remote Panch Pokhari Lake. It is a collection of five adjacent lakes in this region hence the name five lakes. A great fair is organized each year on Janai Purnima (month of August) in this lake during which devotees from Nepal, Tibet, and India visit this pilgrimage site for cleansing their sins.

The trekking route progresses through pretty Tamang villages and forests of blooming rhododendrons, pine, and oaks. Find sheer wilderness from where you can get unobstructed views of Jugal Mountain Range including Dorje Lakpa Peak (6966m), Phurbi Gyachu Peak (6637m) and Madiya Peak (6257m). Witness the life in Tamang villages, explore the rich biodiversity of the region, get close-up views of glaciated peaks and awaken the spiritual feeling in you.

You will meet our representative at the airport and then transferred to the hotel.

 

Early morning trip around Kathmandu for sightseeing. Visit Dubar square, Soyambhunath and Boudhanath. Later, briefing on the trip and completion of official procedures.

Leave Kathmandu early in the morning. Chautara is located 328 km northeast of Kathmandu. Follow the scenic road for 5hrs and reach Chautara.

Panchpokhari trek begins from Chautara. We will pass through few tea houses to Saule which is a tiny village of Tamang ethics. Follow the ascending trail to Saule and see the views of Gaurishankar Mountain, Dorjelakpa Mountain and other peaks and mountains.

Leave Saule early in the morning and follow the ascending trail through the blooming forested ridge. Cross the forest of pine and blooming rhododendrons and climb to the top of a hill. Enjoy the awe-inspiring views of Jugal Mountain Range, Gaurishankar Mountain, and Dorje Lakpa Mountain. Following an ascending trail to arrive at pasture land of Kamikharka Hill.

An easy trek across plain land and through the forest to reach Chyochyo Danda in 3 hours. Reach the top of Chyochyo hill for panoramic views of surrounding mountains.

Brief descent from the hill to the river below. From the river, follow the climbing trail. Walk through a forest of bamboo and rhododendron to the top of small pass known as Hilebhanjyang. There is a small settlement at the top of Hile Bhanjyang. See fascinating views of the river valley from Hilebhanjyang.

After taking breakfast early in the morning, follow the ascending trail through the forest of oak and pine. Several local birds like Kalij and other birds can be seen throughout the way. Out from the forest, arrival at the savanna land from where an unobstructed views of Jugal Mountain Range and Gaurishankar Mountain can be seen.

An easy walk from Nasempati will lead to Panch Pokhari. This is a pond that is sacred to Hindu, Buddhists, and Shamans. Panchpokhari means collection of five lakes. There are five lakes which lie close to each other. Get views of Jugal Himal Range, Rolwaling Mountain Range and Gosaikunda from Panchpokhari. A great fair is organized at Panchpokhari in August.

Follow the descending trail from Panch Pokhari to cross the forest of pine, bamboo, and juniper. Five hours of trekking from Panchpokhari to Gai Kharka.

Move across the meadow of Gai Kharka and climb through the path decorated with prayer flags and chortens to Yangri. Stay overnight at Yangri.

Early in the morning,reach the nearby ridge for a view of the mountain. Follow the ascending path from Yangri and walk across the forest area to a large settlement of Tarkegyang. Stay overnight at Tarkegyang.

Trek through the wide valleys filled with Sherpa settlements and climb through the forest area to Sermathang. Sermathang is one of the major villages in Helambu region.

Descend from Sermathang to Melamchi River. Enjoy the cool waters of Melamchi River and walk to the Melamchipul. Stay overnight at Melamchipul.

Drive to Kathmandu. The trail progresses through rough road at Lamidanda to Kathmandu. Stay overnight in hotel at Kathmandu.

Spend the day on your own. Go for shopping in Thamel or visit any of the numerous world heritage sites.
