Lumbini is the birth of place of Lord Buddha and has been declared as a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO. It is small town in the southern Terai plains of Nepal, where the ruins of the old city can still be seen. Lumbini has been a holy ground for Buddhists all over the world. The restored garden and surroundings of Lumbini have the remains of many of the ancient stupas and monasteries. A large stone pillar erected by the Indian Emperor Ashoka in 250 BC bears an inscription about the birth of the Buddha. An important part of Lumbini is the temple of Maya Devi. It has stone image of Maya Devi giving birth to Lord Buddha as she holds onto a branch.
An important archeological site near Lumbini, Kapilvastu served as the ancient palace where Lord Buddha spent his formative years. Scattered foundations of the palace are abundant and archeologists have by now discovered 13 successive layers of human habitation dating back to the eighth century BC.
Access: Siddhartha Highway connects Lumbini by road to Pokhara, Tansen and Kathmandu. Regular Flights from Kathmandu to Siddharthanagar, which is a 15 – 20 minute drive from Lumbini, connects Lumbini to the capital.
Day 01, Arrival:
Upon your arrival in Kathmandu you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel in a private vehicle.
Today will be a free day for sightseeing where you can visit places of historical importance like the Kathmandu Durbar Square, Hanumandhoka, Temple of living Goddess, Kastamandap Temple which is very unique for it’s myth which is believed to have been built by the wood of a single tree, Temple of Taleju, Kal Bhairav and Akash Bhairav temples and you continue to Swayambhunath Stupa which is one of the most oldest Shrine in Nepal. The monument is believed to be self created and the history of the monument backs to the 5th Century. It is also known as the Monkey temple as there are holy monkeys living in parts of the temple in the north-west. Swayambhunath complex is comprised of several other temples and shrine some dating back to the Licchavi period and museum, library and Tibetran monastery are recently added.
Day 02: Kathmandu to Lumbini:
280 kilometers from kathmandu 7 hours drive: After breakfast drive passing through beautiful agricultural lands of Nepal to Lumbini. On the way you pass through Bhairawaha a border town between Nepal and India which is the trade route between Nepal and India. The drive will take you around 7/8 hours and after arriving in lumbini in the late afternoon visit mayadevi garden and surroundings and observe the birth place of Lord Budhha the apostle of peace here you can also observe 7 goods used by Buddha ,observe the monasteries& Vihars built by Buddhist countries from around the world this is the best place to meditate and learn about Buddhism.
Day 03: Drive to palpa and then drive to Pokhara.
Palpa is a historical city where you can observe the historical palace,typicle Newari village ,shrine stupa and pagoda style temples, observe the manufacturing of the renowned textile “Dhaka” which is the most popular hand woven cloth of Nepal and the traditional Nepalese hat is also made of it. Palpa is a very beautiful and natural place and used to be a favorite summer vacation spot for the Rana Prime Ministers of Nepal in the olden days. Drive back to pokhara and overnight in hotel in Pokhara.
Day 04: Today is free day in Pokhara for sightseeing.
Early in the morning drive to Sarankot which is a 40mins drive. Sarankot is famous for Sunrise and Mountain views and you can enjoy the spectacular views of Fishtail and Annapurna ranges from here. After a warm drink drive back to Pokhara and enjoy a guided tour of Pokhara. Tonight you can enjoy an independent dinner in one of the finest restaurant available. Overnight in Hotel.
Day 05: From Pokhara fly back to Kathmandu and continue your onward Destination
Today after breakfast fly back to Kathmandu in a domestic flight which takes 25mins and you can enjoy the spectacular views of the mountains just close to your eyes from your window. On reaching Kathmandu transfer to the international terminal for your final departure to your destination.
